Time To Retire Resume

It’s said that Leonardo Da Vinci created the first resume in 1482. Needless to say, we’ve seen our share of inventions come and go over the past five and half centuries. Yet, the hiring process, despite graduating to digital media, has remained tethered to antiquated resumes that fail to tell the hiring team what’s most important about the candidates being considered.

Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, known by fans as “The Great One” described a scenario that draws a perfect parallel to what’s missing in the resume-driven hiring process. Gretsky famously said, “Good players skate to where the puck is. Great ones skate to where the puck is going.” Resumes tell us much about the past and little about future prospects.

Obviously a great hire is picking the candidate who will contribute the most to the company now and in the future. Most HR and hiring professionals agree that understanding a candidate’s attitude and personality, combined with skill set and talents, are what allows them to make a good decision.

Not only do resumes and CVs not paint a clear enough picture of “where the puck is going,” they work to the detriment of the evaluation process because sifting through them is terribly time-consuming.

Resumes and CVs lack uniformity. They also pose a threat of not representing the candidate accurately — as their writing and design may very likely be the handiwork of a paid consultant rather than the applicant.

Cleversow has a solution that offers a seamless connection between hiring managers and applicants, and the result is a hiring process that’s 3x faster. The solution is simple: uniformity and personalization. Job candidates create a profile that makes it quick and easy for hiring managers to review the most pertinent characteristics. Since all profiles are created uniformly, it’s easy for hiring teams to review candidates side by side — and Clever AI helps them see the most qualified candidates that most closely match the job post being considered.

Candidate profiles include an introduction video to provide personalization . The video quickly shows a hiring manager the true nature, personality and presentation abilities of each candidate.. Candidates answer the same set of questions that shed light on their experiences, talents, roles,
and capabilities. The intro video not only offers greater insight into the human being that’s being considered for a position, it can replace the need for an introductory phone call — saving an enormous amount of time for hiring teams and candidates alike.

Resumes and CVs have served their purpose in providing a first step toward organizing job candidates. Surely, now taking the next step is not too much to ask!
